With TrustArc, Assurant underscores its commitment to protect the data of its consumers in APAC

Assurant, Inc. (NYSE: AIZ), a leading global provider of lifestyle and housing solutions that support, protect and connect major consumer purchases, today announced it has achieved APEC Privacy Certification with TrustArc. The certification is based on a comprehensive set of requirements governing their global data transfers as outlined in the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation’s (APEC) Cross Border Privacy Rules (CBPR) framework.

Assurant worked with TrustArc to review and verify that they comply with the APEC requirements. As a component of the certification, TrustArc is also providing independent dispute resolution services to address privacy-related questions around customer data from users and ongoing access to privacy guidance.

By working with TrustArc, Assurant demonstrates its firm commitment in protecting the data privacy of its customers and building trust with customers, partners and other external organizations.

“We are delighted to announce our achievement of the APEC Privacy Certification to our customers and partners,” said Keith Meier, EVP and President, International at Assurant. “The certification demonstrates our commitment to preserve the trust of our clients to protect the data of the 16 million customers we serve in APAC. It further underscores our confidence in the continued profitable growth of our business in APAC.”

Hemaka Perera, country president, Australia at Assurant, said, “This internationally recognised data privacy accreditation shows our capability to protect the data and privacy of our customers. As a CBPR certified company, we will continue to partner with industry-leading clients to provide a high level of customer service to protect consumers’ mobile devices.”

TrustArc CEO Chris Babel said, “We believe a strong data privacy management program is critical for companies to build customer confidence and ensure privacy compliance. We reviewed the privacy practices of Assurant to help ensure they meet the APEC privacy framework requirements and can demonstrate their privacy commitment to users, partners and regulators.”
